Location
Location is the most important factor to be considered for the success of an industrial park, alongside proximity to skilled labour and access to both foreign and domestic markets. The Sunway City Industrial Park has all the critical features of a good production location for exports to the International markets and a central distribution location for imports into the SADC regional markets, hence forming a major hub in Harare:
It is in Zimbabwe which is centrally located in SADC, with links directly into major Southern African markets by road, rail and air.
The park is strategically located, 11km east of the CBD of the capital city of Harare
For low value high volume/bulk exports and imports, the park is traversed by a regional road, rail and fuel pipeline from Beira (the nearest port for Zimbabwe, 600km)
For high value low volume/ bulk exports and imports, it is also conveniently located only 6.5 kilometres from the Harare
International Airport for easy access to all major international markets. This will provide a direct link between Sunway City’s
Inland Port (Dry Port) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe’s Air Cargo Hub development project at Harare International Airport.
The site terrain is fairly flat, gently sloping to the Chavaroyi and Sambwa seasonal streams and the Ruwa River in the west although there are some granite rock outcrops and boulders.
